Sigma cinema3/1/2024 Unlike Alpha males, who seek to dominate and lead, or Beta males, who may be more submissive, Sigma males carve their own path, unburdened by the need for validation from others. They are often characterized by their self-reliance, strong inner drive, and aversion to conforming to societal norms. Sigma malesare individuals who possess a unique blend of independence, self-confidence, and a free-spirited nature. Just my 2¢ so please just take it as that, I may not have fleshed out my thoughts perfectly so please don't feel as there is any animosity in this post.To appreciate the Sigma male movies, it’s crucial to first understand what is a Sigma male and what sets them apart from other men, such as Alpha and Beta males. In the same breath you can rent the CP.2 kit or L series kit and still be saving money.Īt that point you can go out and purchase a series of Prime lenses that are perfect and really worth the money! You should spend $180 per job and rent the entire Rokinon Cine kit and continue to save money. In most situations, I find it hard to justify owning the lenses ( unless you are a fellow DP ). I believe that when looking at the lens characteristics you need to really understand what it is you are shooting, who your clients are, and what your budget realistically allows you to accommodate. In MOST ( I emphasis most) of the cases on this forum the application of the lenses are not being used in a way that constitutes the price difference. I have this feeling when people go over this topic. Nothing wrong with 2 similar tools to do the job I really love the flare characteristics of the rokinon/samyang lineup I wouldn't get rid of it. ![]() I don't want to argue, I just want to see proof. I find it hard to believe that the sigma zoom produces a better image. I've seen Rokinons tested against Zeiss cine lenses a few times and from f2.8 - f11 they are pretty darn close. I would love if someone could post proof of this via a youtube link. It was also very hard to distinguish between most CP.2's and the Sigma. I wouldn't use those rokinons on anything after that test to be honest. The sigma 18-35 is much sharper than those Rokinons. The rokinon's are prime lenses, are are almost always better than zooms. They will be much sharper and have better color contrast than the sigma. Now I'm wondering if I should resell it to get the Sigma :/ However after receiving the lens today, I read about how amazing the Sigma is. Thecook wrote:So I just purchased a used Rokinon 24mm T1.5 cine lens for $580 and planned on getting the 35mm T1.5 used as well. Nikon ai-s 105 f2.5 (Still one of my favorite looking lenses and I paid about $400 for it.) Zeiss ZF 50 (1.8) Sold the nikon 50 ai-s to get this (nikon was great tho) Zeiss ZF 35(can't remember the exact stop) If you are run and gun, start with a zoom. Like I said, it really depends upon what you are going to be shooting. The old nikons and Zeiss, to ME, have a more organic film feel to them. I started off with Nikon ai-s models that I got used from B&H. I'm constantly preaching it here.Īs to primes, that goes towards a matter of taste. I have used the Sigma 18-35 and loved it. I also have the 8mm fish cine (which I never use !) I have the 85 Cine and plan to get the 16. What are primes are there within the same price range though? Every great DoP that I know uses a zoom as their work horse. The snobbery against shooting with zooms is funny. That's silly, Sigma makes some GREAT lenses and they have for a while now. I also have to disagree with the sentiment of Rokinon being a better lens. ![]() If you are shooting in a setting that gives you plenty of time between shots for set ups and lighting, then primes are all that. No?Ĭhoosing your lens(es) is very dependent upon what you plan to be shooting. Rockroadpix wrote:I thought the 35 breathes like a pervert at a high school dance.
